"Every year, we celebrate Women’s History Month in America because the man in the big office gives his permission."

Gag reflex reading this. Especially considering the demented, despotic, dark, spineless, sycophantic, broken party in charge in the US. However, even if the Prez were a man I venerated, I'd still have dry heaves. We should issue an emancipation proclamation replete with patriarchal apology, sign it, and be done with it. Moving on to the Light.

Right? He can say whatever he wants about women, but we still need that signature. Slays me a little

I'm not transgender but I'm beginning to think that if a dick and balls are what gets me there maybe I better buy a set. I've heard Musk and Trump and Marco Rubio are selling there's cheap.

Love the Mary Shelley quote and every word you wrote. Resonated to this: "Never mind that all those slogans are gender biased to begin with. You think little girls don’t notice that little boys don’t wear “boy power” and “boys can do anything” shirts? That observation alone speaks louder than girl-power shirts." Great point!

Right? When we start putting those on boys, different story

Love this article! I think it really speaks to the male-gate keeping and superficiality of many efforts to "celebrate" women or other marginalized groups' achievements. This is sooo common in STEM.

Right? God, it's so common everywhere.

It occurred to me recently that the reason MAGA wants to end IVF is that it removes another level of control from women.

Well, I just had coffee with a huge side of rage. This is an excellent piece. I’m furious about so many things right now, high amongst them is the deleting of so many accomplishments of women from our national databases, government websites, etc. thanks to the potus’ pathetic anti-DEI policies. Imagine being *against* that. It’s enraging that we’d be going backward when we haven’t come nearly forward enough. I guess we have to fight five times harder. Good thing rage makes great fuel I guess.

Trump signed in 2017. It does not look like he will in 2025.

It's already signed and a theme for the year was chosen. Don't remember what the theme of the year is, though. I think he signs all of them in January for the whole year.

That must have been the “protecting” women from trans athletes in sports thing.

lol. Sometimes I think it must be very empowering to sign a document that reminds women we don't have equality. Here you go, y'all. Go have your hen party, you're still not equal.

The main reason women are not celebrated for the achievements is because women themselves focus their attention and compliments solely on each other’s appearances and vanity. For example, if you read the comments on videos of women doing demonstrating talents or excellent work, all the ladies are commenting “you’re SO pretty” or “I’m obsessed with you” or “where is your outfit from?”. It really comes down to women holding each other account for the things that really matter and to reduce the importance of their appearances.

Your article was eye opening & maddening at the same time! Hell, here in the UK we have a ‘women‘s’ day, which is largely ignored.

This year my husband asked we when will there be a ‘men’s’ day & I told him that every day is men’s day- he was a little quiet after that 😡

Fierce. Thanks, Linda. Hell, I’m a lifelong feminist and I didn’t know about half those inventions by women. It’s sickening the way we’ve been written out of history. And the guy who has had us removed from the NASA website signs the permission slip? Makes you want to turn the tables for a while.
